Prerequisites
The course focuses on the definition of franchising and its differentiation from other forms of cooperation and integration. The introduction mentions other forms of business operations as they occur on the market. Lectures deal with forms of franchising, history, advantages and disadvantages, selection of the optimal partner, franchise valuation, franchise legislation, development of franchising in Europe and the world, organization of franchising and other key topics. During the lessons, students have the opportunity to visit selected successful franchisors and franchisants and participate in their joint events (conferences, seminars).

Course objectives
The aim of the course is a comprehensive knowledge of franchising and its application in practice. The lecture focuses on the theoretical basis, but also on the practical application of strategic selection of appropriate forms of business. He deals with the management of a franchising company both as a franchisor and as a franchisee. Special attention is paid to creating a franchising manual.
Learning outcomes
The student is perfectly acquainted with the issue of establishing and managing a franchise company both as a franchisor and as a franchisant. Skills: Students will be able to run a franchise business or be a valid employee. Skills: The student will master all elements of franchise management, including the ability to prepare the basis for a successful franchise contract.
Syllabus
  • 1. Cooperation versus integration. 2. Theory of franchising. 3. Advantages and disadvantages of franchising for both partners. 4. Steps to establishing a successful franchise business. 5. Excursion in practice or external lectures. 6. Operation manual. 7. Brand, logotype. 8. Financing of franchise company. 9. Franchising Agreement I. 10. Franchising Agreement II. 11. Types of franchising. 12. Expansion in the form of franchising, choice of form (master, exclusive, joint-venture, etc.). 13. Presentation of individual works of students.
Teaching methods
The main form of teaching is a lecture, which is combined with homework of students and their communication with the practice of a franchising company. Students work out a seminar paper that they have to defend.
Assessment methods
At the end of the study the student will receive a mark consisting of the test result (50%) and an essay including its defense (50%). The test must be written at least 70%.
