One of the most significant factors influencing the form of destination management is the environment in which the management process takes place. At present, there is no ideal management system in tourism destinations. The type of policy of the regional development of a territory may lead to diversities, too. Officially, there are 17 tourism regions in the Czech Republic, some of them are located in territories of several administrative units – 14 regions (NUTS 3). The destination management is very complicated, too, due to the fact the most effective tool of management, financing, is mostly directed from regions of cohesion (NUTS 2), the number of these regions in the Czech Republic equalling 8. The article describes three basic models applied within Czech destination management. The role and extent of public administration, municipalities and private sector, and related financial participation in tourism development represent the basic difference among individual models.
