Course objectives (in Czech)
Aim of the course: The objective is to acquaint the students with basic knowledge of international tourism, the impact and role of tourism in development of the country and abroad.
The main purpose of this course is to introduce modern trends in tourism internationally and their impact on economies.
Learning outcomes (in Czech)
On successful completion of this course, student should be able to:
- analyse the complexity of the phenomenon of international travel and tourism, including economic and social activities involved in the sphere of tourism offer and demand,
- understand the organization of tourism at the social and economic professional level,
- understand the different working cultures, in particular in the tourism sector,
- have a broader perspective with excellent possibility of global employment.

  • 1. Introduction to the topic - International travel and tourism. Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.
  • 2. Global environment - globalisation and internationalization in travel and tourism.
  • 3. Tourism resources and attractions. Tourism and culture.
  • 4. Impacts of international tourism on the ecological environment.
  • 5. Impacts of international tourism on the socio-cultural environment.
  • 6. The competitiveness of the tourism market.
  • 7. Hospitality – accommodation sector and related services. Management in hospitality.
  • 8. Tourist behaviour - international tourist.
  • 9. The organization of tourism in Czechia at the national level.
  • 10. Contemporary challenges in the tourism market.

Class discussion, group projects, presentations by professionals in the sectors, homework, reading. Active participation in class expected.
