- Course objectives
- The course aims at providing students with fundamental concepts of management theory. The course follows the objective of preparing students for skilful execution of fundamental managerial functions as a basis for entry into the carrier of management. Also included in the course are the issues of management ethics as well as professional and personal qualities of a manager. The course includes an introduction to theories of managerial communication, strategic management, operations management and crisis management in an organization.
Students acquire knowledge of management theories, content and performance of managerial functions. The course equips students with insight into the principles of effective communication, fundamentals of strategic and operations management as well as orientation in company management, the role of management and decision making process. Also focused is the development of management theories and their application to contemporary business.
Upon completion of the course, students are able to apply independently the acquired knowledge and skills in practice, in performing managerial functions as first-line managers. Students develop skills of problem solving processes and performance related to company management in the field of hospitality. - Syllabus

- Teaching methods: Lectures, individual preparation, seminars and a mid-term test designed to assess the acquisition of organizational and management concepts and provide motivation to master these concepts, theories and applications.
