- Courses are tailored to level according to the intial placement test, which ranges from B1 to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The language level studied is recorded in the Information System.

- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to expand students'knowledge of general language at level B1-C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference and extend the knowledge of professional language in business and tourism. Students learn basic or extended forms of oral and written communication used in contact with business partners and customers. • • Knowledge: JA 130 students will deepen and expand their language skills and learn professional language terminology in the fields of tourism, marketing, and business communication with a particular focus on the needs of managers, ie. familiarization with specific resources, both oral and written business communication, and intercultural differences in selected English-speaking environments. • • Competence: Students will be able to consider the situation and appropriately communicate, both orally and in writing, with business partners and colleagues. • • Skills: This course will help students be able to make contact with business partners and respond quickly and appropriately in basic professional situations that require the exchange of information. They will be able to obtain and provide information relating to tourism orally and in writing, including the presentation of statistical data. They will be able to navigate documents related to tourism and create their own texts on a given theme. They will be able to use the language express themselves in a job interview in English.

- 1. Tourism - past and present trends • 2. Facts and statistics - presenting tables and graphs • 3. Job opportunities, managment skills, expressing opinions, agreeing and disagreeing • 4. Marketing world destinations, national tourism organizations, CzechTourism • 5. Describing a destination, written communication (brochures, leaflets), branding and selling a destination • 6. Attractions and leisure time activities in a destination, market research, organizing and leading meetings in a companz, writing an agenda and minutes • 7. Organizing a tour, including promotion, the role of a travel agency • 8. Product presentation, package tours, role of tour operators • 9. Meetings with business partners, in person and on the telephone, negotiations, solving problems • 10.Influence of the internet in the field and communicating by email • 11. Classification of accommodation facilities abroad and in the Czech Republic and their promotion • 12. Job opportunities in hotels, the role of marketing managers • 13. Written and oral communication, personal data, preparing for an interview, cultural differences in English-speaking countries

- Teaching methods
- Class instruction is based on active student participation in dealing with select communicative situations both orally and in writing. Practical training takes the form of simulations of real-life scenarios focusing on situations in every-day life and professional environments. Simulations develop language skills and the ability to choose appropriate means of communication with respect to the specific situation and intercultural differences.
