Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to introduce the student to the problematics of psychology, to understand its position and its importance in the system of contemporary sciences, to use its methodological function not only in the field of purely professional but also in a wide range of practical activities in general. Analysis of basic psychological categories allows understanding of more specific topics of social psychology, personality psychology, psychology of work and personality, health psychology.Students are led to realize the extremely significant demands on the profile of personal qualities of a manager.
Výstupy z učení
Knowledge: Students are aware of the current extremely significant demands on the profile of personal assumptions and characteristics of a manager in services. Abilities: Students are able to increase the necessary degree of frustration tolerance, because they understand the complexity of working in services from the point of view of the psyche. Skills: Students are able to use methods of practical recognition of people. At the same time, they learnt the basic techniques of professional dealing with clients, including clients of "difficult" nature.

  • 1. Psychology in the past and present – definition, importance and fields of study. Methodology and research methods in psychology. 2. Personality, its structure and dimensions. Assessment of personality and personality types in workplace. Temperament and methods of its assesssment. 3. Abilities and talents. Types of abilities assessed by factor analysis, dimensions of perception, psychomotor skills and intelligence. Emotional intelligence in hospitality services and management. Intelligence and creativity. 4. Motivation, basic psychological motive categories, demotivation and frustration, work satisfaction. 5. Social interactions, attitudes and behavioral roles in hospitality management. 6. Communication, intercultural communication. 7. Recognition and characterisation of personality, practical metods of assessing people needed for a manager in hospitality industry. 8. Consulting work psychology. Role and importance of psychological consulting in personal and professional life of individual working in hospitality. 9. Specifics of work in the field of hospitality and services from the psychology perspective. Importance of balanced lifestyle and personal well-being in hospitality services and management. Burn-out syndrome and its prevention. 10. Mental health. Methods of mental health care in a workplace in hospitality industry.
