Students will be able to analyze, evaluate and to react to daily situations in Rooms division operation on a highly competitive market. This course will improve the student´s social and professional competence.

Cíle předmětu
The aim of the subject is to obtain knowledge and skills in the field of management and operation of rooms division in various types of hotels. Students will gain knowledge about basic definitions, processes, organizational structure and job descriptions of different positions in the front office and housekeeping. They will understand the principles of yield management, and the usage of hotel statistics.
Výstupy z učení
Students will learn how to count the productivity in Rooms division, they will know the main factors influencing the Rooms division costs and price calculation. Finishing this course, students will be capable of managerial work in the front office and/or in the housekeeping department.

Front office (organization, different shifts, and job description) 5-6. Guest experience cycle - pre-arrival, arrival, stay, departure, post-departure activities 7. Night audit, Reservations 8. Revenue management and Up-selling in hospitality 9. Housekeeping (organizational structure, types of hotel room cleaning) 10. Managing inventory and costs in housekeeping, managing laundry operations 11-12. Planning and hotel statistics. 13. Human resources in Rooms Division (productivity, motivation)

Scope of weekly instruction 2 x lectures. Individual projects and presentations on a weekly basis, Case studies, class discussion, reading.
Metody hodnocení
20% Individual Presentations 7-10 minutes (No show for the presentation = 3 lessons for the oral exam) 10% Mid-term test (01.12. 2020 weeks 1-5) 60% Oral exam + 10% chosen reading discussion (25.01. + 26.01. 2022) Note: if the oral exam is marked FX = always 3 x lesson (according to the materials of the current year info on the IS) Minimum 75% attendance required
