Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
To develop practical use of the language in its oral and written forms through practical workshops, and discussion and presentations. To further learn formal language of professional communication in hospitality businesses, namely in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and transportation companies.
Syllabus
  • Topics based on the textbook – lesons 6–7: 1. My daily routine and hobbies 2. Aspect, future forms 3. Genitive, elementary genitive syntactic constructions, present tense of verbs 4. Ordinal numbers, dates, days and months, Czech holidays 5. University studies in the Czech republic, revision of the genitive and the accusative in real situations 6. Restaurants – topics and vocabulary related 7. Nominative, genitive and numeral expressions in practice 8. Future forms, aspect, types of verbs, word order 9. Verbs of motion and expressing location 10. Czech phrase and negative 11. Revision and final written test 12. General evaluation of the final written test (the most common mistakes, etc.)
Teaching methods
A seminar, workshop, discussion, presentation based on active student´s participation, practical skills in the use of the Czech language.
Assessment methods
Active participation during the lessons (75 % of attendence) and written exam test (70%) as a precondition for the final oral examination based on the topics from the textook and additional study materials.
