Syllabus

1. Psychology in the past and present – definition, importance and fields of study. Methodology and research methods in psychology. 2. Personality, its structure and dimensions. Assessment of personality and personality types in workplace. Temperament and methods of its assesssment. 3. Abilities and talents. Types of abilities assessed by factor analysis, dimensions of perception, psychomotor skills and intelligence. Emotional intelligence in hospitality services and management. Intelligence and creativity. 4. Motivation, basic psychological motive categories, demotivation and frustration, work satisfaction. 5. Social interactions, attitudes and behavioral roles in hospitality management. 6. Communication, intercultural communication. 7. Recognition and characterisation of personality, practical metods of assessing people needed for a manager in hospitality industry. 8. Consulting work psychology. Role and importance of psychological consulting in personal and professional life of individual working in hospitality. 9. Specifics of work in the field of hospitality and services from the psychology perspective. Importance of balanced lifestyle and personal well-being in hospitality services and management. Burn-out syndrome and its prevention. 10. Mental health. Methods of mental health care in a workplace in hospitality industry.
