Prerequisites
To learn the Czech language at levels A1-A2 according to CEFR.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
Course objectives
To command essential rules of the language based on practiacal skills and namely: the alphabet, phonetics and pronunciation of complicated letters - their sounds. To learn some basic greetings and social phrases that help students socialize and get acquinted with each other.
Syllabus
  • Topics (based on the textbook "Communicative Czech - elementary"): 1. Personal pronouns, the verb to be. 2. Czech noun genders. 3. Demonstrative pronoun "ten"(this-that) and numeral "jeden"(one). 4. Questions "Co"(what), "Kdo"(who), "Kde"(where). 5. Let us introduce ourselves. (Verbs: to know, be able to) 6. Present tense of Czech verbs. 7. Shopping. 8. Possesive pronoun "mine" - "my". 9. Nominative and accusative of Mi, F., N. 10. Cardinal numerals.
Teaching methods
Class instruction is based on active student participation in learning essentials of vocabulary, as well as of grammar rules through particualr exercises which are in each lesson. The rest of exercises is a part of students´homework.
Assessment methods
Written credit test 75%, homework and attendance 25% - total 100%.
